Review of The Public Domain Treasure Hunter Book Club is a post from: The Public Domain Source A Guide to Finding and Using Public Domain Content Successfully!

Access to The Public Domain Treasure Hunter Book Club has just recently been made available and let me tell you – it is REALLY fantastic!

Last year sometime I had found a similar site and it up and disappeared on me – I was really bummed because it was an excellent source of Public Domain books that are not readily found online. I know that many of you could benefit from a site like that. So I’ve spent the last 6 months or so searching high and low trying to find a similar site – somewhere where I could get access to Public Domain books that were not the “easy to find” Google Books or Gutenberg stuff. I found one other place – I joined and canceled my membership that same day – it was a major disappointment. Fast-forward now to this week and Debra opened up membership to her Public Domain Treasure Hunter Book Club and it was EXACTLY what I had spent the last 6 months searching for!

Here is what I like about it:

It is not filled with useless junk!

There are books in there from 1923 until 1963 – and these ARE NOT the typical “easy to find online” PD books. In fact, most of them are from the 1950′s and 1960′s.

These are exactly the type of books that I look for when I’m searching for PD books – well written, good quality – usually the “how to” books that tell the reader how to do this or that.

There’s also high resolution scans of images from some really nifty books. These are images that you could use to create all types of products – even posters to sell. This is something I personally have not done – but I know folks do this on ebay, zazzle…etc..

Right now there are 183 books in these categories:

Animals & Pets

Arts & Crafts

Children & Parenting

Food & Cooking

Health & Fitness

Hobbies & Special Interest

Home & Garden

Money & Business

Self-Help / Self-Improvement

Social Skills & Relationships

as of the writing of this review, there are 183 Public Domain books available.

These are books that I didn’t have to scan or pay to have scanned

They’re all ready for me to use in Microsoft Word format (which I can also load into Open Office)

I get 8 “new” Public Domain books each month (2 each week)

This saves me gobs of cash – and time – each month.

I can even request books to be added in my chosen niche!

And let me tell you about Debra who runs The Public Domain Treasure Hunter Book Club – everything she does is top notch and this Book Club is certainly no exception. She is always available to answer e-mails and has a very giving heart. She’s also one of the creators of The Public Domain Treasure Hunter Survival Kit.

There’s also a support desk if you need help – responses are received quickly – usually from Debra herself.

I can take just ONE of the books and do several different things with them:

Add my own spin to the book and sell it on ClickBank, E-Junkie, TradeBit….etc. (done that, works great

Sell the book for e-readers like the Kindle (I’ve been doing this and it is building up a nice income stream).

Use the book for website/blog content (I do this all the time – love it!)

Use part of the book to create a free report or e-course to give away on my site in exchange for e-mail addresses (do this all the time too!)

Create an audio-book out of the book.

Use parts of the book as articles to post on sites like ezinearticles.com to drive traffic to my website/blog. (This works great too!).

So, for all intensive purposes, let’s say that I found 6 ways to make money with that 1 Public Domain book – and each month Debra gives me 8 more Public Domain books to use. That means that EACH month I can essentially have 48 more items/products/sites that are bringing in money

And, don’t worry that other folks have access to the same books – everyone has the opportunity to put their own spin on the books – bring in your own creative ideas and make something unique.

Plus there are a few tutorials there that will be helpful for working with the Microsoft Word files. You can use similar steps described in the videos to modify the books in Open Office too.

The two things you are NOT going to find in this Book Club is – pre-written sales letters and e-book covers. That is fine by me personally. I don’t want to use something that is “cookie cutter”. I create my own unique products from these Public Domain books.

Now, let’s talk about the value for the money. Debra is offering two different memberships for The Public Domain Treasure Hunter Book Club – Silver and Gold. For most folks, the Silver Membership should be good – you’ll have access to 16 Public Domain books at a time – that should be plenty to get started with. As of now, the price for this is $39 each month – that is a MAJOR bargain considering that the cost of copyright research and scanning for each book would be at a minimum $172 EACH!

The Gold membership allows you to have access to ALL of the books at all times – the 183 that are currently there plus the “new” 8 PD books that Debra adds each and every month. This is the membership I chose – I wanted to have access to everything. Say I’m working on a project in the “wood working” niche – well, then I can make sure I can access all of the books available that fall into that niche. The Gold membership is the same $39 a month and a one-time-only fee of $197 to access the library of 183 other books.

So now I’m sitting here asking myself the question – is this Book Club missing anything – what would make it better? What I hope to see in the future are a few tutorials about creating products from the Public Domain books. This could help us to get the creative juices flowing and profit from our creations sooner

Other than that, I honestly can tell you that The Public Domain Treasure Hunter Book Club is truly a fabulous value for the money. Give it a shot – check it out – you have nothing to loose with Debra’s 60 day money-back guarantee. Start with the Silver Membership – you can always upgrade to the Gold Membership later on if you want to.

Public Domain in the UK & other countries is a post from: The Public Domain Source A Guide to Finding and Using Public Domain Content Successfully!

Many of you have asked

I live in the U.K. – can I still use the methods you teach in “Public Domain Made Easy” for finding Public Domain material?

The rules are different and more limiting if you will be using Public Domain material in the U.K.

However, there is a way to not have to worry about this. If you base everything related to your Public Domain products in the U.S., then you can just follow the U.S. Copyright rules.

Get your web hosting from a U.S. Based hosting company

use a .com URL

Use a company based in the U.S. for payment processing like ClickBank, PayDotCom, PayPal

And put a disclaimer in your product and on your web site that says something like:

According to U.S. copyright law, this item is in the Public Domain in the U.S. In other countries, copyright restrictions may apply.

Please keep in mind, I am not a lawyer. However, many people who live in the U.K. do use the methods above.

So, if you are willing to follow the guidelines above, then the methods I teach in “Public Domain Made Easy” for researching Copyright will apply to you.

I also suggest you read the free report from Tony Laidig below:

I create unique items from Public Domain stuff , put the items on CD and sell them on Ebay – but I do it a bit differently then most. The ideas I share with you here will be helpful no matter what you sell on Ebay – public domain or not!

Here is what I do to create the CDs I sell:

First, I find Public Domain books that virtually no one else is selling using the methods I teach in “Public Domain Made Easy“

I scan the PD items I want to use and OCR them.

I then use MicroSoft Word or OpenOffice to create my own, new, unique product from them.

I might be updating the text, adding in my own introduction, pictures…etc.

I might be taking 1 PD item and breaking it up into several individual products (separate files/PDFs)

I could also combine 2 or more PD items into one item.

What I include in my eBay listings:

Pictures

A picture of the completed product on CD like this:

pictures/screen shots of pages from the item.

I make sure to tell people (several times) that they are purchasing items on CDs (like seen above highlighted in yellow).

A list of everything that is included

the table of contents from the items, further descriptions if it will help describe the item.

A video showing pages from the PD item.

This part is not necessary – but I think it does help sell the product and get more people to look at it.

I create a quick video showing the item with me talking about the item or even just screen-shots of the item set to music.

I upload the video to YouTube and “embed” the video in my Ebay listing.

When using YouTube you can put a URL/link at the beginning of the video description – you can put a link directly to your eBay listing so anyone viewing your video on YouTube can get to your eBay listing and buy your product.

You can use free software like CamStudio to create your video. It will record whatever you show on your computer screen. Open up your PDF file and start flipping through the pages of your item.

You can then use “Windows Live Movie Maker” to finish your video. This comes free with computers running Windows.

How I Increase the “Perceived Value” of my Items:

There are some things I do to increase the “Perceived Value” of the items I’m selling (meaning – people will pay more for it because my presentation of the product warrants it).

I print out a nice CD label (I’ve been using “exPressit” from Memorex for the labels and covers. You can download it for free HERE.)

note: the exPressit software is made to use labels sold by Memorex, I buy my labels at a local “Staples” office supply store. You can also find them online.

I put the CD into a full-size DVD case.

I print out a nice cover for the DVD case (again, using “exPressit”)

If there are several PD books in the same niche/set that I’m selling at once, I’ll break them up over 2 CDs instead of just putting everything on one.

I must tell you that many of the different profit increasing things I do in my Ebay auctions I learned from reading “The Silent Sales Machine“. When you are ready to squeeze every dollar you can out of your Ebay auctions, check the book out here.

About using “as-is” PD items from Google Books…etc…

I am in favor of creating my own, unique, copyrightable products from PD items. I like that these are my own – no one else can sell them. And usually, since I’ve created unique products – I can sell them for more money!

There are many folks who are not interested in creating unique items – much less scanning items. Many, many people take PD books “as-is” and sell them on CDs. If you are interested in going this route – then you’ll want to check out what this guy is doing here.

Why you NEED to sell your item on ClickBank:

In a few hours you can have your product submitted to ClickBank. Within a few days you can be earning money while you sleep! Here I’ll go through the steps you need to take to get your Public Domain product making money for you ASAP!

Let’s start with why ClickBank is so wonderful…

ClickBank handles EVERYTHING !

They process the payment from your customer (credit card, PayPal)

They direct your customers to the download page for your product

They handle returns (yes, you may get some of these – it happens)

They send you $ every 2 weeks! Checks at first, then you can get direct deposit! cha-ching!

Plus…your item is listed in the ClickBank Marketplace where affiliates will be looking to promote YOUR product for you!

What you need to sell your PD item on ClickBank:

ClickBank Account

Your ebook/product

Download Page (Thank You Page)

Sales Page

URL (www.YourNicheHere.com)

Signing up for ClickBank is free and easy, you can do that HERE.

Once you’ve signed up for ClickBank you can promote other people’s products as an affiliate and earn more $$.

Your eBook/InfoProduct to sell on ClickBank

You have your ebook/infoproduct done and ready to go already. You may have found the original Public Domain book by using the methods I teach in “Public Domain Made Easy“. Your ebook is in PDF format. If you have more than one eBook, you can zip them together in a “Zip” file or let your customers download them individually – or both!.

Keyword Research For Your ClickBank Product

You’ve already done some keyword research and you know the keywords you need to be using for your niche. I like using a nifty tool for this, you can learn how to use it here.

URL & Web Hosting For Your ClickBank Product

Now you need a URL (web site) for your product. Use some of your niche keywords in the website URL.

You can purchase Domain Names for only $7.49 each at GoDaddy.com by clicking Here.

For hosting I recommend HostGator. I like their “Baby Plan” that lets you host unlimited domains!

Use Coupon Code: PublicDomainSource to get your first month of hosting first month of hosting for a penny!

Create Your Sales Page

If your Copy Writing skills aren’t stellar – don’t worry! NOTHING is set in stone. To learn how to put together a great sales page and much more, then check out this awesome step-by-step ClickBank Guide.

On your sales page you’ll want to:

Relate a personal story “Before finding XYZ……”, “When I told my friends about XYZ….they thought I was nuts!”.

Use a title that catches attention

Tell the customer the BENEFITS of your product (not the features)

Show that your product solves a problem, fills a need…etc.

Invite potential customers to sign up for your e-mail list for more info, sample of your product…etc. I like using Aweber.

Include the cost of the product

How it will be delivered (download your product in minutes!)

e-mail contact for questions

Money back guarantee (CB requires 60 days)Link to ClickBank for payment.

Create Your Download Page

This is what you should have on your download page:

Thank your customer for their purchase

Tell them where they can contact you for support & questions (e-mail)

Clear instructions on how to download your product

sign-up for an “updates” mailing list (I like using Aweber.)

Optional, but good to do:

offer another product that they can purchase “You might also like XYZ product that will tell you how to XYZ….find out more info here (affiliate link)”

Google Adsense ads

So, there you go. Those are the basics (and a little extra) about getting your Public Domain product earning money for you on ClickBank.

Do you need more help with getting your product making money on ClickBank ASAP? Then you MUST check out this awesome step-by-step ClickBank Guide!
